“But you’re Asian,” is a term Jeremy Kim heard a lot growing up.

People say this whenever they find out that an Asian person doesn’t want to be a doctor or isn’t good at math, according to Kim, founder of Hard Seltzer Nectar.

Kim, along with two co-founders, started producing Nectar in December 2020 after raising their last $ 20,000.

Manufacturing issues quickly drained their investment and almost forced them to stop it.

Then one of their videos went viral on TikTok and changed everything.

The trio employ an ambitious marketing strategy Kim says she designed to shatter Asian stereotypes.
